Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by reporting the visitor numbers and satisfaction levels for both periods. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two periods rather than listing the data for each year separately. For example, noting that dissatisfaction dropped significantly from 40% to 15% would provide a stronger analytical focus. The data is generally accurate, though the phrasing 'the average of 35%' is slightly imprecise when referring to a single data point from a chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally' to link ideas. However, the progression within the body paragraphs is somewhat mechanical. The transition between the visitor numbers and the satisfaction percentages could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'the museum' and 'people'. Improving the variety of linking phrases and using more sophisticated referencing would help the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbished', 'proportion', and 'satisfied'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic phrases like 'number of people' and 'visited the museum'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'witnessed a rise', 'a significant shift', or 'the majority of respondents'. There are no major spelling errors, but the word choice is functional rather than sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Although 30% of visitors were satisfied...' and '...after the Ashdown museum was refurbished 92,000 of people visited...'. While the meaning is clear, there are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as '92,000 of people' (should be '92,000 people') and 'the two same periods' (should be 'the same two periods'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences would benefit from better clause management to avoid minor errors. The control of grammar is sufficient for communication but lacks the flexibility required for higher bands.
