Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with specific data from the table and charts. However, the response could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two periods rather than listing the data for each year separately. For example, instead of describing the 'before' and 'after' data in two distinct paragraphs, you could contrast the figures directly to highlight the impact of the refurbishment more effectively. Overall, the task is addressed well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, the use of these connectors is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow, though the flow could be smoother with more sophisticated transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbished', 'proportion', and 'satisfied'. However, there is some repetition of basic phrases such as 'people were' and 'of people'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations. For instance, instead of saying 'a large number of people', you could use 'a significant increase in visitor numbers'. Additionally, ensure that your phrasing is concise; for example, 'the average of 35% of people' is slightly awkward and could be simplified to '35% of visitors'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. There are some minor grammatical errors, such as 'the number of visitors who visited... were 74,000' (subject-verb agreement: 'was') and '92,000 of people' (should be '92,000 people'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and avoiding redundant prepositions will help improve your accuracy. Your control of punctuation is generally good, and the meaning remains clear throughout the text.
