Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the reporting is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the statement 'the number of very satisfied visitors increased Upto 20%' is unclear as it does not specify if this is a percentage point increase or a total percentage. Additionally, some data points are presented in a confusing manner, such as the claim that the 'dissatisfied group halved' while also mentioning specific percentages that do not clearly align with the provided charts. To improve, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are explicitly linked to the provided visual information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is often mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'the number of' to start sentences. Transitions between the table data and the chart data could be smoother to create a more integrated summary. While the overall progression is logical, the lack of varied linking words makes the writing feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the use of cohesive devices like 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' would enhance the clarity of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'individuals visited to Ash down museum' instead of 'individuals visiting the Ashdown Museum'. The student relies on basic terminology and struggles with collocations. For example, 'significant change around 18000 of people were explore' is grammatically and lexically incorrect. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that word forms (e.g., 'renovated' vs 'renovation') are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the total proportion of individuals visited... were 74000', and incorrect verb forms like 'people were explore'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors in punctuation or word order. For example, 'the charts results of surveys of satisfaction seems gradually change' is missing necessary prepositions and correct verb tense. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
