Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task, including the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey data. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction post-refurbishment. The data is accurately reported, and you have made relevant comparisons between the two periods. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are presented with complete accuracy; for instance, you mention '18,000 more people', which is a correct calculation from 74,000 to 92,000. The overview is clear and effectively highlights the main findings, meeting the requirements for a well-developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central focus, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In comparison to', 'whilst', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother. Some sentences feel slightly disjointed, and the use of 'whilst' and 'as well' could be more varied to avoid repetitive structures. Overall, the organization is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'reconstruction', 'proportions', and 'drastically'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'experiance' (experience), 'vsitors' (visitors), 'there' (their), and 'dissatified' (dissatisfied). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or synonyms to describe trends, such as 'a significant surge' or 'a marked improvement', rather than relying on simpler descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'the number of visitors accounted in Ashdown Museum' (should be 'accounted for') and 'The records also surveys' (should be 'survey'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as unnecessary capitalization in 'Overall, The satisfaction levels'. While these errors are present, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To achieve a higher score, aim for greater control over subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with more precision.
