Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a complete or accurate summary. The overview is confusing and contains significant inaccuracies, such as misinterpreting the survey data. The description of the data is fragmented and incomplete, particularly in the final paragraph, which cuts off mid-sentence. While the main features (visitor numbers and satisfaction levels) are identified, the lack of clarity and the failure to complete the analysis prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure all data points are accurately transcribed and that the summary provides a coherent comparison between the two periods.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'biggest proportion' and 'lowest proportion' without clear reference. The sentences are often run-on or grammatically incomplete, which hinders the flow of information. To improve, focus on using transition signals (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely') to link ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'biggest' and 'smallest'. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'refurnishment', 'dissatified', 'inviduals', and 'rerfurbishment', which indicate a lack of control over basic academic vocabulary. The range is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To improve, learn specific vocabulary for describing trends and proportions, such as 'significant increase', 'the majority of', or 'a marginal decrease', and proofread carefully to eliminate spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('people visit museum'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly constructed, making them difficult to follow. The attempt at complex structures is largely unsuccessful due to these persistent errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using articles and prepositions correctly. Reducing the frequency of errors is essential for reaching a higher band score.
