Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. You covered both the table and the pie charts, making relevant comparisons between the two periods. However, the response is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more analytical approach to the data. For example, while you mention the percentages, you could have highlighted the significant drop in dissatisfaction (from 50% combined to 20% combined) more explicitly to show a clearer understanding of the trends. Overall, the task is addressed well, but the analysis could be more insightful to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the 'before' and 'after' periods. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by varying the sentence structures and using more sophisticated linking phrases to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them sequentially.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbished', 'proportion', and 'satisfied'. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrasing such as 'number of people' and 'the museum'. To improve, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data reporting, such as 'witnessed a rise', 'a significant shift', or 'the majority of respondents'. There are no major spelling errors, but the word choice lacks the sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'the average of 35% of people were very satisfied' (which is slightly awkward phrasing) and 'the proportion of 5% of people were very dissatisfied'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Additionally,15%'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and more varied sentence construction would be beneficial.
