Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by reporting the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results for both periods. You successfully identified the main features, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical. For instance, you list the percentages for each category without making sufficient comparisons between the 'before' and 'after' states. To reach a higher band, you should focus on highlighting the most significant changes, such as the dramatic drop in dissatisfaction (from 50% combined to 20% combined) rather than simply listing every data point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from visitor numbers to satisfaction ratings. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally'. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal flow within the second body paragraph could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the survey results to the overall trend of the museum's improvement.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Terms like 'proportion', 'refurbished', and 'dissatisfied' are used correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited and relies on basic descriptors. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'the average of 35% of people', which is not the most natural way to express a statistic. To improve, try to incorporate more precise reporting verbs and adjectives to describe the trends, such as 'experienced a surge' or 'a significant shift in public opinion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are some grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'the proportion of 5% of people were very dissatisfied' is slightly awkward; it would be better to say 'the proportion of very dissatisfied visitors fell to 5%'. Additionally, there are some minor punctuation errors, such as the missing space after the comma in 'Additionally,15%'. The control of grammar is generally good, but more variety in complex sentence structures would help elevate the score.
