Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of both the table and the charts. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the prompt. However, the response lacks a more analytical approach. For instance, you listed the data points sequentially rather than grouping them to highlight the significant shift in visitor satisfaction levels. To reach a higher band, focus on synthesizing the information—comparing the 'before' and 'after' figures directly—rather than describing each period in isolation. The inclusion of all data points is good, but ensure the most significant trends (the increase in visitor numbers and the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction) are emphasized more strongly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the progression within the body paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the visitor numbers and the satisfaction percentages could be more integrated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two time periods, which helps the reader follow the structure of your report. Overall, the information is easy to follow, but more varied cohesive links would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'refurbished', and 'depict' correctly. There is some repetition of phrases such as 'people were' and 'with the museum', which limits the sophistication of your writing. To improve, try to use a wider variety of synonyms and collocations related to data reporting, such as 'a significant rise', 'the majority of respondents', or 'a marked improvement'. While your word choice is generally accurate and does not impede communication, incorporating more precise academic vocabulary would elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and grammatically sound. There are a few minor issues, such as 'the average of 35% of people were', which is slightly awkward phrasing. Additionally, ensure consistent tense usage when describing the data. While there are some minor errors in structure, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, aim to incorporate more complex grammatical structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice constructions, with greater precision.
