Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey data for both periods. You have identified the main features, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two years rather than listing the data for each year separately. For instance, noting that the 'dissatisfied' category dropped significantly after the refurbishment would provide a more analytical approach. The overview is clear and effectively highlights the key trends, which is a positive aspect of your response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of information is generally clear, but the flow between the visitor numbers and the survey data could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two time periods, which helps the reader follow the structure of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'refurbished', and 'satisfied'. There is some repetition of phrases such as 'people were' and 'to the museum'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'people', you could use 'visitors', 'attendees', or 'respondents'. The vocabulary used is accurate and does not impede communication, but it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While most of your sentences are clear, there are some minor grammatical issues, such as the phrasing 'the proportion of 35% of people were', which is slightly awkward. You have good control over basic grammar, and your errors do not impede communication. To improve, try to vary your sentence structure further by using more complex subordinating clauses or passive voice constructions to describe the data, which would demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
