Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends in both the table and the pie charts. You successfully highlighted the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical. For instance, you list the percentages without fully synthesising the data or making deeper comparisons. To reach a higher band, ensure you group information more logically and focus on the most significant changes rather than listing every data point. The overview is present but could be more concise to better highlight the 'main features' as requested.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'To start with', 'Additionally', and 'However' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'that of the before one', which is grammatically awkward and hinders the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall cohesion of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'refurbishment', 'proportions', and 'inclined'. However, there are several instances of inappropriate word choice and non-standard collocations. For example, using 'mankind' to refer to visitors is incorrect in this context, and 'explicit' is used as a verb where an adjective or a different verb was needed. There are also errors in word formation, such as 'dissatisfactory' instead of 'dissatisfied'. To improve, focus on using vocabulary that is precise and appropriate for a formal report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and articles. For example, 'the number of visitors visited' is incorrect; it should be 'the number of visitors who visited'. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement and unnecessary articles, such as 'the table chart'. The use of 'had been inclined' is an incorrect passive construction for this context. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve your score.
