Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the rise in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, while you mention the increase in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000, you do not explicitly calculate or highlight the percentage growth. Furthermore, the description of the pie charts is slightly disorganized, and the data points for 'very satisfied' and 'very dissatisfied' before the refurbishment are not clearly linked to the overall trend. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly presented and that comparisons between the two years are more analytical rather than just descriptive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'However', 'The number of...'). There are instances where the progression of ideas feels disjointed, particularly in the transition between the table data and the pie chart data. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'before the certain changing', which lacks precision. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow and logical progression of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'number of visitors has been increased' and 'satisfied people'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'before the certain changing' and 'the dissatisfied people were at higher level'. To improve, try to use more academic vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'witnessed a significant surge', 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. For instance, 'the total number of the visitors... were 74000' (subject-verb agreement error), 'the number of dissatisfied persons were at 40%' (should be 'was'), and 'the very dissatisfied individuals has been reduced' (should be 'have'). Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'Meuseum' and 'werw'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
