Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the total visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the report mentions 'dissatisfied' and 'extremely not happy' but does not clearly group these categories to provide a more sophisticated comparison. The description of the data is occasionally inaccurate, such as the claim that dissatisfaction 'decreased 25%', which is a misinterpretation of the percentage point shift. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are more analytical rather than just listing percentages. The overview is present but lacks a clear synthesis of the trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive. Phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'To conclude' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is often disjointed. For instance, the transition between the total visitor numbers and the satisfaction percentages is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'in results 35% individual was very happy', which lacks a proper grammatical link to the previous clause. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic descriptors like 'happy' and 'not happy' rather than more academic terms such as 'satisfied', 'dissatisfied', or 'content'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'repairing' instead of 'refurbishment' or 'renovation', and 'extremely not happy' which is not standard English. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the occasional misuse of terminology limit the score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise reporting verbs and adjectives would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in total 74000 individual visited museum'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., '35% individual was'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'which results reduce in dissatisfaction'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences being run-on or lacking necessary commas. While the meaning remains understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would lead to immediate improvement.
