Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the table and pie charts, but the analysis is often unclear or inaccurate. For example, the student states 'no response was least result' with '5 visitors', but the chart labels are percentages, not visitor numbers. The comparison of the 'very-satisfied' and 'very dissatisfied' categories is confusingly phrased, making it difficult to follow the data trends. While the overall trend of increased visitor numbers is identified, the specific data points are often mislabeled or misinterpreted, which prevents a clear, accurate summary of the information provided in the visual aids.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'According to table' and 'Turning to pie-charts', which are used repetitively. Referencing is frequently unclear; for instance, the transition between the table data and the pie chart data lacks a smooth connection. The internal structure of the sentences is often disjointed, making the flow of information feel fragmented rather than cohesive. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'visitor's fulfilment' instead of 'visitor satisfaction' and 'redevelopment of exhibition centre' when the prompt refers to a museum. The student struggles with basic terminology, often using 'number' or 'figure' in ways that do not accurately describe the data. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'reconstruction' and 'remodelling' used interchangeably without precision. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the pie charts compares'), article usage ('according to table'), and tense consistency ('the number of traveller will be increased'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'the individuals who satisfied is also higher'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of hyphens and commas. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors is a significant distraction.
