Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical. You have correctly identified the increase in visitor numbers and the reversal in satisfaction trends. To reach a higher band, ensure you clearly distinguish between the total visitor numbers (in thousands) and the survey percentages/proportions. Your description of the survey data as 'amount of 40' is slightly inaccurate as these represent percentages or raw survey counts rather than total visitor volume. The overview is also a bit repetitive; ensure the summary highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, a section for visitor numbers, and a section for survey results. You use some cohesive devices like 'Whereas', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and some awkward phrasing, such as 'This essay will elaborate that how visitors are satisfied'. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the visitor numbers and the survey data could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'renovation', 'refurbishment', and 'dissatisfied'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'redecoration' is not the most precise term for a museum renovation, and 'quiet opposite' should be 'quite opposite'. Additionally, using 'amount' for countable survey respondents is incorrect; 'number' or 'proportion' would be more appropriate. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate for describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The chart demonstrate', 'The number of dissatisfied citizens were') and incorrect word order ('elaborate that how visitors are satisfied'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentence structures are constructed accurately, particularly when reporting data.
