Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main features of the table and charts, the analysis is superficial. You have not fully developed the comparisons between the two periods. For instance, the summary of the pie charts is fragmented and lacks a clear overview of the shift in visitor sentiment. The data points are mentioned, but the trends are not synthesized effectively. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a full development of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is disjointed. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'Last obversion in after renovation'). The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods. To improve, use a wider range of linking words such as 'in contrast', 'subsequently', or 'furthermore' to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'reparation' instead of 'renovation' or 'renewed', and 'disatisation' which is unclear. The use of 'number of' is repetitive throughout the text. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'experienced an increase', 'the majority', or 'a significant shift'. Avoid repeating the same structures and try to incorporate more varied terminology to describe the trends shown in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response that occasionally impede communication. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('visitors numbers were increased'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures ('74,000 number of visitors visited museum'). The sentence variety is low, relying mostly on simple structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, while ensuring that your grammar remains accurate.
