Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main trends—the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels—the analysis is somewhat superficial. You have included some data points, but the report lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the key features. The information is presented in a fragmented way, and the failure to reach the word count means that the data is not fully developed or supported. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and include more specific data comparisons between the two periods.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into short paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'The year before' and 'The year after'. There is a lack of transition words to guide the reader through the comparison of the two time periods. Furthermore, the paragraphing is somewhat disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel abrupt. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'consequently', 'furthermore') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You rely on basic descriptors like 'increased greatly' and 'high number'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'very utterly unhappy' and 'there reviews', which indicate a need for better control over word forms and spelling. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'significant surge', 'dramatic shift', or 'proportionate increase', and pay closer attention to basic spelling and grammatical accuracy in your word choices.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the clarity of your message. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, punctuation (e.g., missing capital letters at the start of sentences), and run-on sentences. For example, 'there was surge of increase of number visitors' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for punctuation errors. Reducing the number of simple, error-prone sentences will help improve your overall accuracy.
