Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the table and charts, providing a clear overview and supporting details. However, the analysis of the data contains significant inaccuracies. For example, you state that the ratio of 'very dissatisfied' changed from 30% to 40%, which contradicts the provided data. Additionally, the description of the 'dissatisfied' category is confusing and mathematically inconsistent. While you have identified the main trends, the lack of precision in reporting the figures prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure that your data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are logically sound.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In terms of', and 'On the other hand' are used to link ideas. However, the flow within the second body paragraph is somewhat disjointed due to the confusing presentation of the data. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions feel mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring that each sentence follows logically from the previous one and that the progression of information is smooth and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'refurbishment', 'satisfaction', and 'proportion'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'give no response' instead of 'gave no response' and 'the ratio... change' instead of 'changed'. Some phrasing is repetitive, and the lack of precision in describing the data trends limits the score. To improve, work on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word forms are grammatically correct in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The table and pie charts illustrates'), incorrect verb tenses ('the percentage... increase'), and missing prepositions or articles. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency, especially when describing past events and comparing data sets.
