Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with specific data from the table and charts. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are fully developed. For instance, while you noted the increase in visitor numbers, you could have explicitly linked the rise in satisfaction to the refurbishment as a key trend. The response covers all parts of the task well, providing a clear summary of the provided information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that separate the 'before' and 'after' periods. You used some cohesive devices such as 'Whereas', 'In contrast', and 'Meanwhile' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in the first paragraph ('...refurbished, The pie chart...'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help the progression of ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'proportion', 'refurbished', and 'satisfaction level'. There are some minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'level of people' instead of 'proportion of visitors' and 'remain same' instead of 'remained the same'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and ensure consistent verb tense usage when describing data. The vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'the number of visitors were' should be 'was', and 'the percentage of very satisfied visitors increase' should be 'increased' to maintain past tense consistency. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for tense consistency and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
