Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that the number of 'very dissatisfied' visitors halved, you do not provide specific figures to support this, which is essential for a Task 1 response. The overview is present but lacks a clear synthesis of the trends. To improve, ensure you include specific data points from the table and charts to support your observations, rather than relying on general descriptions. The conclusion is also a bit informal and does not add value to the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'In this way' at the end of the text do not effectively link the ideas or provide a logical conclusion. Some sentences feel disjointed, and the transition between the table data and the survey data could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help improve the flow and logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. You use basic terms like 'inclined' (which is used incorrectly here; 'increased' or 'risen' would be better) and 'some portion'. There is also some repetition of words like 'visitors' and 'refurbishment'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'significant rise', 'proportion', 'fluctuation', or 'marked improvement'. Avoid informal phrasing like 'no of individual' and ensure your word choices are contextually accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'during the same two period' (should be 'periods'), 'the more no of individual are satisfied' (should be 'a greater number of individuals are satisfied'), and 'The amount of satisfied tourist is also increased' (should be 'The number of satisfied tourists has also increased'). Subject-verb agreement and pluralisation are consistent areas for improvement. Focusing on these basic grammatical rules will significantly enhance the professional quality of your writing.
