Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the statement 'during the year before refurbishment accounted for lowest' is grammatically unclear and lacks precision regarding the actual figures. While you identify the increase in visitors and the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction, the comparison between the two periods could be more analytical. You have addressed all parts of the task, but the lack of clarity in reporting data points (e.g., 'by 74000 visitors' is used incorrectly as a total) prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. Phrases like 'In the term of' and 'In the pie chart' are used to signal new points, but the internal logic within sentences is frequently broken. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the comparison between the two years is confusingly expressed. The progression of information is present but lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic structures like 'accounted for' and 'highest proportion' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'reurbishment' and 'no responeses'. The range of vocabulary is just adequate to convey the basic meaning, but there is little evidence of the flexibility or precision needed to describe data trends effectively. To improve, you should incorporate a wider variety of verbs and adjectives to describe changes, such as 'surged', 'plummeted', or 'a significant shift'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The provided table and two pie charts illustrates'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'the most of the visitor was dissatisfied'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. The use of punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree and that you use articles correctly when referring to specific data points.
