Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the table and charts, identifying the increase in visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the pie charts is confusing, as the data points mentioned (e.g., '30 visitors were dissatisfied') do not clearly reflect the percentages provided in the source material. The report would benefit from a more precise interpretation of the data and a clearer distinction between the two time periods. While the main trends are identified, the lack of clarity in reporting specific figures limits the effectiveness of the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To begin with table chart' and 'Secondly, the given pie charts shows'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which data set is being discussed. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas smoothly. While there is an overall progression, the flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures, which hinders the logical development of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and sometimes inaccurate. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'inclined by 18 thousand visitors' (instead of 'increased') and 'outsiders who visit this museum' (which is an unnatural way to refer to visitors). The term 'rebuilt' is used repeatedly, which is not the most precise term for a refurbishment. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision, and the errors in collocation are noticeable throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally cause confusion. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The pie charts depicts' and 'the number of visitor... were'. Articles are frequently missing or misused, for example, 'To begin with table chart' and 'in second year'. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often structurally flawed. The punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is inconsistent, which prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
