Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some key features, such as the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels, the analysis is incomplete and ends abruptly. The description of the satisfaction data is unclear and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary. To improve, ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, including a clear overview and detailed comparisons of all categories provided in the charts, while maintaining a sufficient length to fully develop your points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure due to its unfinished state. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraphs are disjointed and the final sentence is incomplete, which breaks the flow of information. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'while, the number of visitors'. To improve, focus on using clear paragraph breaks for different data sets and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') to guide the reader through your comparisons more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'the number of visitors' and 'increased by'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'dissatisfied how they behave', which is unclear and does not accurately describe survey data. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'witnessed a rise', 'fluctuated', or 'proportion'. Avoid informal or vague phrasing and focus on using words that accurately reflect the trends shown in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie charts illustrates'), incorrect verb tenses ('the year before refurbishment were satisfied'), and incomplete sentence structures ('the year after refurbishment gone'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, practice using a mix of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency throughout your writing.
