Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the rise in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. However, the reporting of data is sometimes imprecise. For example, stating 'around 50% between dissatisfied and very dissatisfied' is a vague way to interpret the chart, and the calculation of 'more than 75%' is not clearly supported by the provided figures. While the overview is present, the analysis lacks the precision required for a higher band. The comparison between the two periods is attempted, but the data points could be more accurately integrated to support the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'Turning to'. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by mechanical errors and awkward transitions, such as 'Looking first about total number of visitors'. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing, while present, does not always group related ideas effectively. The progression of information is generally logical, but the lack of sophisticated linking words limits the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'survey dominant opinion' and 'didn't share in the survey' are slightly unnatural. There are also spelling errors such as 'noticable' and 'recpectively'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'refurbished' and 'proportion', the range is limited. To achieve a higher score, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('number of visitors who was very satisfied') and missing articles ('illustrates numbers of visitors'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misplaced commas and spacing issues. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to basic grammar rules and sentence construction is needed.
