Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the overall increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels. You provided specific data points to support your observations. However, the response could be improved by ensuring the comparison between the two periods is more explicit throughout. For example, when discussing the satisfaction percentages, you could more clearly contrast the 'before' and 'after' figures to highlight the impact of the refurbishment. The overview is clear, but the reporting of the survey data in the final two paragraphs is slightly repetitive in structure. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'Moreover', and 'By contrast' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'between before and they the reconstruction', which makes the opening sentence difficult to follow. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel mechanical rather than fluid. To improve, ensure that your cohesive devices connect ideas naturally rather than just acting as signposts at the start of sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the visitor numbers from the survey results.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'refurbishment', and 'dissatisfied'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'the number for satisfaction category had rapidly risen at 40%' and 'the number of visitors has significantly increased'. The phrase 'no response had stood at 5%' is also slightly unnatural. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, you need to work on collocations and more precise terminology to achieve a higher band score. Spelling is generally accurate, but the phrasing often lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of the text. For example, 'between before and they the reconstruction' contains a syntax error, and 'at beginning there were most tourists were dissatisfied' is grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with preposition usage and article omission, such as 'at 40% and 35% for very satisfied'. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction. Complex structures are attempted but often lack the necessary accuracy.
