IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table below shows the numbers of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished. The charts show the result of surveys asking visitors how satisfied they were with their visit, during the same two periods.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table and pie charts illustrate the figure of visitors and their satisfaction level regarding the Ashdown Museum before and after some changes.

Overall, it is evident that the year after the museum was refurbished the number of tourists increased as well as the satisfaction level.

In general, there is an increasing trend the total number of visitors increased from 74,000 to 92,000 after infrastructure changed.

In the survey, before changes only 15 people were very satisfied and satisfied was double of very satisfied. However, dissatisfied and very dissatisfied accounted for half of the pie chart whereas the remaining 5 people did not respond.

A year after the museum refurbishment the share of dissatisfied and very dissatisfied significantly dropped to only 20 people from 50. In contrast, satisfied and very satisfied are seen to become the largest slice with 35 and 40 individuals respectively. However, no response remained unchanged with only 5 persons.`
