Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the visitor numbers and the satisfaction survey results. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the increase in visitor numbers and the shift in satisfaction levels, the comparison is hindered by unclear phrasing, such as 'result of satisfied was less'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to synthesize the data more effectively rather than simply listing figures. Ensure that all comparisons are clearly linked to the specific time periods provided in the prompt, as some of your descriptions of the 'before' and 'after' periods are slightly confusing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in topic. However, the flow is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The use of 'so' as a connector is overly informal and repetitive. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words such as 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' to create a more professional and academic tone throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'result', 'frequency', and 'change'. There are also issues with word forms, such as using 'refurbished' as a noun ('before the refurbished') instead of 'refurbishment'. The repetition of 'renovated' and 'refurbished' suggests a limited range. To improve, incorporate more specific vocabulary related to data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuation', 'significant increase', or 'marked improvement', and ensure you use the correct grammatical form of these words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of the text. Examples include 'number of visitor' (should be plural), 'before the refurbished' (should be 'before the refurbishment'), and 'these ratio' (should be 'this ratio'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors in word order or missing articles. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of nouns versus adjectives. Practicing the construction of complex sentences with accurate punctuation will also help elevate your score.
