Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features—the increase in visitor numbers and the shifts in satisfaction levels—the analysis is underdeveloped. You have listed figures without providing a clear, analytical comparison. For instance, stating '30 is of satisfied visitors' is unclear and lacks context. To improve, you must group data logically and provide a more comprehensive overview that synthesizes the relationship between the refurbishment and the changes in visitor sentiment. The lack of a clear summary of trends makes the response feel like a list of numbers rather than a report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. It is composed of very short, disjointed paragraphs that do not facilitate a smooth flow of information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; for example, the transition between the table data and the pie chart data is abrupt. The use of referencing is also weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear thematic focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrasing such as 'is of' and 'results', which does not demonstrate the range required for a higher band. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'reconstruction' when referring to a museum refurbishment. The lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive adjectives makes the writing feel mechanical. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'experienced an increase', 'remained stable', or 'a significant shift in sentiment'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The two pie charts illustrates') and missing articles (e.g., 'to museum'). The sentence structures are largely simple and repetitive, lacking the complexity needed to demonstrate control over a range of grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions in a data-reporting context.
