Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the table and the pie charts. Key information is identified, such as the overall rise in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000, and the shifts in satisfaction levels pre- and post-refurbishment. Comparisons are made between the two periods, noting that dissatisfaction declined significantly. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and confusion in handling the specific survey percentages, such as contradictory statements about the percentage of satisfied visitors. Despite these minor data-reporting discrepancies, the response provides an adequate overview and covers the main trends required by the prompt, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is arranged coherently with a clear overall structure, beginning with a standard introductory sentence and concluding with comparative details. Paragraphing is attempted, although paragraph breaks are slightly disjointed, with some very short paragraphs that limit the overall flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'In addition', and 'In contrast', but referencing is occasionally faulty and some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The logical progression is generally maintained, but the abrupt separation of sentences hinders a smoother delivery, keeping the cohesion at a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, incorporating words like 'refurbishment', 'proportion', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'attract' instead of 'attracted', 'swatisfaction', 'dissatosfied', and 'singnificantly'. Furthermore, repetitive phrasing appears when describing the changes, which restricts the lexical flexibility. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main message, the frequency of spelling mistakes and awkward lexical choices places this criterion at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

A mix of simple and complex sentence forms is attempted, with structures like 'While looking at the satisfaction level there are...' and 'The table and pie charts compare...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the museum attract the more visitors', 'visitor swatisfaction... with the visitor increasing'), missing articles ('museum received 92000 visitors'), and awkward phrasing ('There's 18000 visitors that museum gained'). Punctuation and spacing errors (extra spaces before words) are also present. These frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, aligning the grammar with Band 5.0.
