Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the prompt by presenting the visitor numbers and the survey results for both periods. The writer successfully reports the overarching data, noting the increase in total visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000, and highlights shifts in satisfaction levels, such as the drop in dissatisfied users. However, the overview is rather weak, and there are minor inaccuracies in reporting percentages (for instance, stating that very satisfied visitors were 'only 15%' when that was the figure before, and incorrectly implying that percentages for all categories add up cleanly or are interpreted with precise proportion language). Despite these minor flaws, all parts of the task are addressed, and the comparisons made are generally relevant.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The text is organised into four paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the survey results. There is a logical progression from overall numbers to specific satisfaction ratings. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly placed (e.g., 'While, after renovate visitors exceeds upto...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing and transitions between sentences can be abrupt. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the faulty use of cohesive markers and repetitive sentence openings prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts to use less common items such as 'refurbished', 'significantly', and 'dramatically'. However, there are numerous word-choice and form errors throughout the text, including 'tha data', 'durig', 'renovate' instead of 'renovation', 'dissatisied', and 'yaer'. These errors demonstrate a limited control of word formation and spelling. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies places this response firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'visitors was 74,000', 'visitors exceeds upto', 'Before, renovation the museum visitors were very satisfied only 15%', and 'dissatisied visitors was was 40% which droped sharply'. Punctuation is also erratic, with unnecessary commas disrupting sentence flow. Although the writer attempts complex structures, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors causes some difficulty for the reader.
