Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main features of the visual data, including visitor numbers and survey results regarding museum refurbishment satisfaction. However, the data is reported inaccurately and vaguely in several places. For instance, the writer omits the key visitor numbers (74,000 before and 92,000 after) entirely from the text. The description of the survey results is imprecise, such as mentioning 'dissatisfied factory' instead of figures, and contains confusing phrasing like 'a bit difference has been viewed between satisfied and very dissatisfied people 10% and 5% respectively.' While an overview is attempted, it lacks clarity and precision. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, leading to a band score of 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into paragraphs, attempting a basic introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is heavily hindered by awkward phrasing, non-standard cohesive devices, and poor referencing. Transition phrases like 'Firstly,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In contrast' are used mechanically and often inappropriately given the data relationships being contrasted. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is frequently faulty, resulting in sentences that are difficult to follow and causing the reader to struggle with the logical flow of ideas. This performance aligns with the descriptors for Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and frequently inappropriate. The student makes numerous word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'enchantment of things' instead of 'refurbishment', 'very satisfying people' instead of 'very satisfied visitors', and 'dissatisfied factory' instead of 'dissatisfied respondents'. Words are often used with incorrect parts of speech or in unnatural contexts, such as 'steady nunber of proportion'. While the meaning can sometimes be guessed, the lexical inadequacies cause noticeable strain and difficulty for the reader throughout the response, restricting the score to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound structures are consistently flawed, such as in 'It can be seems that there's a noticeable difference between the point of view that shows the rather the change sre beneficial or not.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The chart illustrate', 'change sre'), and preposition usage. These errors are frequent and often distort the meaning, causing considerable difficulty for the reader. This corresponds to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
