Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student successfully reports the main data points from both the table and the charts, correctly identifying the total visitor numbers (74,000 before and 92,000 after) and summarising the shifts in satisfaction levels (e.g., noting that visitors were predominantly dissatisfied before refurbishment at 40% and more satisfied after, with 35% very satisfied). An overview is provided in the second paragraph, contrasting overall visitor volume and satisfaction trends. However, the data presentation in the body paragraphs is occasionally muddled and confused by poor phrasing, particularly regarding percentages and categories, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Nevertheless, all parts of the prompt are addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is arranged into four paragraphs, attempting an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs addressing the table and charts separately. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by clumsy transitions and a lack of cohesive devices. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where phrases like 'these are the same person' create confusion. Paragraphing is attempted but internal cohesion within sentences is often faulty and mechanical, leading to a choppy and difficult reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'people', 'survey', and 'refurbishment'. There are several noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'wellcome its visitors' instead of 'welcoming visitors', 'its rose up' instead of 'it rose', and 'are disagree' instead of 'were dissatisfied'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited lexical range appropriate for Task 1 academic writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors in tense consistency ('were 74000 and after refurbishment its rose up'), subject-verb agreement ('the total number of arrivals... were'), and word forms ('satified', 'reburbishment'). Furthermore, run-on sentences with poor clause linking, such as 'some person were not interested in survey and they were just 5% and these are the same person...', severely disrupt readability and reduce accuracy.
