Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting data from both the table and the charts. An overview is provided, noting the increase in visitor numbers and satisfaction levels. Key features are selected and compared, such as the rise in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000 and the significant shift in satisfaction ratings, particularly the drop in dissatisfied visitors from 40% to 15%. However, there are minor numerical and grammatical inaccuracies in data reporting, such as stating 'visitors who was satisfied rose to 30% before to 40% after', which slightly affects precision. Despite these minor lapses, the main trends are adequately captured, earning a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response features a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs discussing specific details. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'overall', 'In the table it showed', and 'after the refurbishment'. However, paragraphing is somewhat disjointed, with individual sentences treated as separate paragraphs in places, and some cohesive referencing is mechanical or repetitive. Logical progression is present, but the organizational structure could be tightened for better flow. This performance aligns well with Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'modification', 'refurbishment', and 'significant surge'. However, there are frequent spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'Asdown', 'response' spelled as 'respond', and 'vesiotors'. Grammatical forms of words are also sometimes misused, such as 'disatified' and 'sattisfied'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at variety with relative clauses and subordinate structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'visitors who was satisfied', 'visitors who was disatified') and prepositional usage ('during the before and after'). Punctuation errors also occur, such as stray backslashes. These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, fitting comfortably into the Band 5.5 descriptor.
