Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the task by summarizing both the table of visitor numbers and the survey charts concerning visitor satisfaction. The main features are identified, such as the increase in total visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000 and the shift in dissatisfaction rates from 40% before refurbishment down to 15% after. However, the overview is weak, ungrammatically structured, and placed awkwardly after the first paragraph. Furthermore, some data points are misinterpreted or inaccurately described in the body paragraphs (for instance, misinterpreting the very dissatisfied or no response categories). While the prompt is generally addressed, the lack of a clear, coherent overview and occasional inaccuracies in data reporting prevent this response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response attempts paragraphing, dividing the introduction, overview, and body details, but the logical flow and progression are weak. The overview sentence ("Overall, shows the Number of tourist...") is poorly integrated and ungrammatical. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively (e.g., starting multiple sentences with "However,", "Subsequently,", or "Despite this,"), and referencing is often unclear. Paragraphing structure does not consistently support a logical progression of ideas, making the overall organization feel disjointed and mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like "visitors", "tourist", "refurbishment", and "satisfaction" with numerous spelling and word-form errors (e.g., "travelles", "musum", "disatisfied", "approximatly", "controversely", "rougly", "Altough", "reponse", "constraction"). There are also awkward word choices and collocations (e.g., "higher data for the survey", "dissatisfied data go down"). The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with frequent errors causing some difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences or faulty attempts at complex ones. There are pervasive grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles (e.g., "number of tourist in the ashdown museum"), incorrect verb tenses and forms (e.g., "satisfaction of travellers reduce", "number of visitors increase"), and severe punctuation and capitalization issues. These frequent errors frequently impede smooth reading and demonstrate poor control over basic grammar and sentence construction.
