Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully identifies the main features of the visual data, including the total visitor numbers (74,000 before and 92,000 after refurbishment) and the shifts in survey satisfaction categories. An overview is present in the second paragraph, capturing the overall increase in visitors and the general trend of improved satisfaction. Key data points are accurately reported, such as the increase in very satisfied visitors from 15 to 35 and the decrease in dissatisfied visitors from 40 to 15. The response covers all parts of the prompt well, though the reporting style is somewhat mechanical and lists data points rather than fully synthesizing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is structured into four paragraphs with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs detailing the specific data. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader, such as 'Overall', 'First of all', and 'Turning into the remaining data'. However, some transitions are awkward or misused, such as 'Turning into' instead of 'Turning to'. Paragraphing is logical, grouping the general trends and visitor numbers in the earlier sections and survey details subsequently. Overall cohesion is adequate, though referencing and linking phrases occasionally feel forced.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary relevant to reporting data, including 'refurbished', 'surged', 'declined', and 'category'. However, there are notable lexical errors and unnatural collocations, such as 'the information of numbers of visitors', 'amount of visitors have been surged', and 'no of dissatisfied visitors amount have been sharply declined'. Repetition of basic verbs like 'increase' and 'decline' is evident. While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points, inaccuracies in word choice and preposition use place it firmly in Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are numerous tense and agreement errors, such as 'total number of visitors... have been increased' (subject-verb agreement), 'after during the year after refurbishment' (redundancy/error), and 'the amount of visitors have been surged' (incorrect passive voice). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and sentences are comprehensible despite the errors, but the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the score from reaching a Band 7.
