Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the task by reporting the main figures from the table and the surveys, noting the visitor numbers (74,000 rising to 92,000) and shifts in satisfaction levels (such as dissatisfaction dropping from 40% to 15%). However, the response fails to meet the minimum word count of 150 words, standing at 146 words, which attracts a penalty under Task Achievement. Furthermore, the overview is poorly framed as a meta-commentary ('In this overview we compared both pie chart...') rather than a summary of main trends, and some data points lack clarity or full development. To improve, the writer must ensure the word count exceeds the minimum threshold and construct a clear, data-backed overview of the key trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response is structured into three very short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by poor paragraphing and a lack of cohesive devices. The second paragraph functions awkwardly as a conversational introduction rather than a logical overview of the visual data. Cohesive devices are minimal and repetitive (e.g., 'before', 'after', 'also'), and referencing is sometimes unclear or mechanical. While there is a basic attempt to group information regarding visitor numbers and survey results, the overall organisation lacks the clear logical flow expected at higher bands. Paragraphing needs to be managed more effectively to separate the overview from the detailed body points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, relying heavily on words directly copied from the prompt such as 'visitors', 'museum', 'refurbished', and 'survey'. There are several noticeable word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'how fulfilled they were' instead of 'how satisfied they were', and 'year of renovated' or 'year of restored' instead of 'year of refurbishment' or 'renovation'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'visiters', 'gereter' (greater), and 'nenovated' (renovated). While the range is minimally adequate to convey basic data points, these frequent lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips restrict the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatically, the response is heavily flawed. It opens with a major sentence structure error: 'It is illustrate that the number of tourists...', mixing passive and active verb forms incorrectly. There is a heavy reliance on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex or compound clauses often result in fragments or run-on sentences lacking proper verbs (e.g., 'Satisfied visiters before 30% and after 35 % also 15% visiters very satisfied before but 35 % after'). Punctuation is weak, and tense usage is inconsistent. Frequent grammatical errors cause strain for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band score.
