Student answer (Band 6.0)
The following pie-charts and table illustrate the number of tourists at Ashdown Museum before and after it was renovated while highlighting the visitors satisfaction percentage.
Overall, the total number of visitors have increased after the refurbishment. Furthermore, after the remodeling, individuals seemed to be more satisfied while visiting the Museum as compared to the old Museum.
Looking at the table in more detail, the total number of visitors increased to 92,000 from 74,000 after the redecoration. In contrast, tourists are more satisfied after the renovation as the people who were very satisfied in the survey rose to 35% as compared to previous year which was 15%. Similarly, the percentage of individuals who are satisfied increased to 40% from 30% while the percentage of dissatisfied individuals decreased from 40% to 15% in just one year after the refurbishment.
Regarding the visitors who were very dissatisfied, its percentage also decreased from 10% to 5%. As for prople who did not attend the survey, it remained constant at 5% both years,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by successfully summarizing both the visitor numbers from the table and the satisfaction survey results from the charts. An overview is provided in the second paragraph, capturing the main trends that visitor numbers and overall satisfaction increased following the refurbishment. Key features are selected and reported accurately, supported by relevant figures such as the rise in visitors from 74,000 to 92,000 and the shifts across the satisfaction categories, including the significant drop in dissatisfied respondents from 40% to 15%. The student makes appropriate comparisons between the two periods. Data points are cited correctly according to the provided reference source. The response meets all core requirements for Task Achievement, though further extension of the comparative analysis could elevate it further.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall progression and logical organization. It begins with an introductory statement, followed by a clear overview paragraph, and then delves into body paragraphs detailing the table and charts respectively. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Furthermore', 'In contrast', 'Similarly', and 'Regarding' are used to guide the reader through the data, although there is a slight mechanical feel to some transitions. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction/overview from the detailed body points. Referencing is generally clear, with minor typographical hiccups such as 'prople' not severely disrupting the logical flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully employing terms like 'refurbishment', 'remodeling', 'redecoration', and various percentages and numerical data. There are occasional inaccuracies in word choice or phrasing, such as 'visitors satisfaction percentage' (possessive form needed) and a spelling error ('prople' instead of 'people'). Furthermore, 'attend the survey' is a slightly unnatural collocation, with 'respond to the survey' or 'participate in the survey' being more appropriate. However, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main features and comparisons clearly without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as introductory subordinate clauses ('Looking at the table in more detail, ...') and comparative constructions ('rose to 35% as compared to previous year which was 15%'). There are some grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the total number of visitors have increased' instead of 'has increased'), tense shifts ('tourists are more satisfied' where past tense or consistent present would fit better), and missing articles ('to previous year'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though a comma splice appears in the final sentence. These errors do not impede communication.
