Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by reporting the main features of the table and charts, noting the overall increase in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000 and summarizing key survey satisfaction shifts. However, the response is severely underdeveloped and incomplete, primarily because it cuts off mid-sentence while describing the survey results for the year before refurbishment. Furthermore, the response is significantly under-length at 102 words, failing to meet the 150-word minimum requirement. This severely impacts the overall task completion and development of ideas, restricting the score for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a basic attempt at organization, featuring an introductory paragraph with an overview statement, followed by a body paragraph detailing specific data points. However, logical progression is hindered by mechanical errors in punctuation and spacing, such as 'refurbishement,as' and 'overall, the', as well as missing paragraph breaks for the second half of the data. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the abrupt ending of the text prevents full logical development. Paragraphing and referencing are inadequate due to the unfinished nature of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the data, employing functional terms such as 'proportion', 'category', 'visitors', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are multiple spelling errors throughout the text, including 'illiustrate', 'refurbishement', 'pr satified', 'disactisfaction', 'vay', and 'constrcat'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they reflect a lack of control over word formation and spelling, keeping the lexical score in the mid-range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Ashdown Museum received 74,000 visitors, compared to the 92,000 in the following year.' Grammatical control is mixed; while some basic structures are accurate, there are recurring punctuation and spacing errors (e.g., missing spaces after commas and periods) and minor article errors. The most notable limitation is that the response cuts off abruptly before completion, leaving grammatical structures unfinished. Nevertheless, the sentences produced prior to the cut-off are generally understandable.
