Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by referencing both the table (visitor numbers) and the charts (survey results). However, there are notable misinterpretations of the data. For instance, the writer states that 'forty percent of peoples are dissatisfied', whereas the chart shows 40% as 'dissatisfied' and 10% as 'very dissatisfied' (totaling 50% unhappy before, compared to 75% positive after). Furthermore, the overview is extremely basic, stating simply that visitor numbers increased. While the main features are touched upon, the lack of accurate data reporting and flawed interpretation prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but overall organization is hindered by conversational and informal framing ('if we talk about the table', 'if we talk before the renovation'). Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with frequent run-on sentences and a lack of clear logical progression. Pronoun referencing is also weak, as seen in phrases like 'other are about ten to fifteen' and 'the who do not response to this'. While the essay has an introduction and a brief conclusion, the structural flow between sentences needs significant improvement.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Vocabulary usage is very basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student relies on elementary words like 'table', 'chart', 'numbers', 'people', and 'renovation'. There are numerous word-form and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'give there opinion' instead of 'give their opinion', 'rebuilding' instead of 'refurbishment', and 'very dissatisfaction' instead of 'very dissatisfied'. These limitations and errors occasionally strain the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak, with a predominance of simple sentence structures and frequent errors. There are multiple issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency, such as 'numbers of people visiting the museum has been increase' and 'the satisfaction rate increase'. Punctuation is largely neglected, missing capital letters at the beginnings of sentences ('if we talk', 'in the pie chart', 'it shows') and featuring run-on clauses. Complex structures are attempted but result in faulty grammar and awkward phrasing.
