IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table below shows the numbers of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished. The charts show the result of surveys asking visitors how satisfied they were with their visit, during the same two periods.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates the total number of visiters to Ashdown museum before and after renovation, where as the pie charts demonstrates about the percentage change in surveys of satisfaction of visitors before and after the renovation of the museum.

Overall, there is a significant increase in the number of visitors in the museum after refurbishment and survrys after the renovation shows pretty much positive results as most of the visitors are towards satisfactory side.

Firstly, the number of visitors went up to 92,000 after renovation from 74,000 before renovation. Very satisfied visitors used to be only 15% before the renovation and it turned to 35% after the renovation, likewise the proportion of satisfied visitors went up to 40% from 30%.

In contrast, after the renovation there is a huge decline in the proportion of visitors who are dissatisfied, from 40% it came to 15% and when it comes to very dissatisfied visitors the proportion came down to 5% from 10%. There is no change in the proportion of no response, it remains at 5% at both before and after the renovation.
