Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover all parts of the task by reporting visitor numbers and satisfaction survey results. However, the selection and presentation of data are incomplete and contain several inaccuracies. For example, the writer states that "Dissatisfied was haiest number in year before rayther then auther results" (highest number before rather than after), but misinterprets or omits key figures. Visitor numbers are stated correctly (74,000 before and 92,000 after), but the survey percentages are described in a disjointed and confusing manner. The overview is poorly formulated and lacks a clear summary of the main trends, such as the overall increase in visitor numbers and the shift towards higher satisfaction ratings after refurbishment. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, earning a band score of 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is divided into paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression or logical structure. Sentences often feel disconnected, and cohesive devices are either absent, repetitive, or misused. For instance, the transition between discussing visitor numbers and satisfaction surveys is abrupt, and phrases like "The no response was very few result" demonstrate mechanical and inaccurate referencing. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack internal cohesion and fail to guide the reader smoothly through the visual data. Overall, the organization is disjointed, which corresponds to a band score of 4.5, rounded to 5.0 for some logical grouping of data points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily reliant on the wording from the prompt. There are frequent spelling errors ("sechuation", "haiest", "rayther", "auther", "maynore", "deference") and incorrect word choices, such as using "minority" and "majority" inappropriately to describe survey percentages (e.g., "The Satisfied was made up the majority in year before and it more minority of in year after"). These lexical limitations and errors frequently strain the reader and obscure meaning, placing the response firmly in the band 4.5 to 5.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There is a very limited range of structures, and most complex sentence attempts fail due to severe errors in syntax, subject-verb agreement, and preposition use (e.g., "The pie chart illustrate...", "The results of surveys of visitor satisfaction and it is show in same two periods", "During the year after refurbishment have 92000 number of visitors"). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also problematic, resulting in sentence fragments. Frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, justifying a band score of 4.0.
