Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting both the visitor numbers from the table and the satisfaction survey results from the charts for the two periods. An overview is attempted, though it is quite brief and vague ("many people were satified when they came to museum"). Key features and comparisons are highlighted, such as the increase in total visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000, and the shift from high dissatisfaction (40%) to higher satisfaction and very satisfied responses after refurbishment. Data points are cited accurately from the prompt. However, the development of ideas lacks a fully comprehensive overview paragraph, which prevents the response from reaching the higher bands. Overall, the task achievement is solid and covers the core information adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is arranged logically with a clear overall progression, moving from visitor numbers to satisfaction ratings. Paragraphing is used to separate the introduction, overall statement, and body details. However, cohesive devices are sometimes awkwardly deployed or punctuation errors disrupt the flow, such as "While, The cherts give..." and sentence fragments like "In the satisfaction, 40% people were dissatisfied, whose visited before its refurbishment." Referencing is generally understandable, but mechanical transitions ("Moving further", "in the other hand") detract from natural cohesion. Paragraphing is adequate, but more sophisticated linking phrases are needed for a higher score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to data reporting such as "proportion", "figure", "increased", and "decrease". However, there are notable spelling and word choice errors, including "cherts" instead of charts, "satified" instead of satisfied, and awkward grammatical forms like "whose visited" and "visiter". Less common vocabulary attempts sometimes result in collocation errors or unnatural phrasing, such as "pegged at", "sharply grown", and "rapidly decrease". Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the core meaning remains clear throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. Frequent errors occur with verb forms, tense consistency, and relative clauses, as seen in "who visit the ashdown museum" (instead of visited), "40% people were dissatisfied, whose visited", and "figure remain similar" (missing past tense). Punctuation is also faulty, with commas incorrectly separating subjects from verbs or clauses (e.g., "While, The cherts...", "5%before"). While simple sentences are generally clear, attempts at complex structures frequently introduce errors, though they rarely impede overall communication.
