Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the table and the satisfaction charts, including the visitor numbers (74,000 to 92,000) and the shifting satisfaction levels. An overview is clearly presented in the second paragraph, highlighting the overall increase in visitors and improved satisfaction. Comparisons are made between the two periods. However, some awkward phrasing and data integration issues appear, such as 'In 74,000 visitors very satisfied accounted for 15%', which slightly confuses the relationship between absolute numbers and percentages. Nevertheless, all key data points are accurately identified and supported, aligning well with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is arranged logically with an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs addressing visitor numbers and specific satisfaction ratings. Cohesive devices are used to signal contrasts and transitions (e.g., 'Overall', 'however', 'in contrast'). Paragraphing is generally appropriate, though paragraph four is quite brief. Referencing is mostly clear, although minor mechanical errors in cohesion and punctuation (such as missing spaces after periods and commas, and lower-case beginnings like 'notebly') detract from a smoother flow. Overall, the organization meets the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'renovated', 'significantly', 'proportions', and 'refurbishment'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally marred by word choice or collocation errors, such as 'this figure half decreased' instead of 'halved' or 'decreased by half', and 'surveys of no reponse visitor' instead of 'respondents who gave no response'. Spelling errors like 'notebly' and 'reponse' also occur. These errors do not impede communication, placing the response securely in Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and contrasting structures (e.g., 'while the charts illustrate...'). However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors in verb tenses, prepositions, and sentence structure, such as 'The number of visitors had 74,000' instead of 'stood at 74,000', 'this share vastly exceeded to 35%', and 'before upgraded' instead of 'before being upgraded'. Punctuation and capitalization errors are frequent (e.g., missing capitals at the start of sentences like 'notebly'). These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, reflecting Band 5.0 to 5.5 performance.
