Student answer (Band 6.0)
The table illustrate the number of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was renovated and the pie charts depicts of outputs from surveys asking visitors about their satisfaction with their visit, during the same two periods.
Overall, from the table, we can clearly observe that the number of visitors have increased after the development and renovation of the museum and from the pie charts, it is evident that the major chunk of visitors voted satisfied and very satisfied after refurbishment.
Looking at the table, there is an growth of visitors from 74,000 to 92,000 before and after the refurbishment of the museum, which is roughly a increment of 20 percent. In addition, the year before refurbishment, we could state that only 15 percent visitors were very satisfied and 30 percent visitors were satisfied, whereas the year after refurbishment resulted in 35 percent of higher satisfaction and 40 percent of satisfaction.
On the otherhand, before renovation, most visitors opted for dissatisfaction i.e, 40 percent and which had drastically reduced to 15 percent after redevelopment. The people who were very dissatisfied before and after reconstruction were 10 and 5 percent respectively. Finally, the visitors who did not respond to the survey were of equal chunk in both the cases.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the table and the charts. The introductory sentence correctly identifies the data sources, and the overview highlights the key trends: visitor numbers increased after refurbishment, and visitor satisfaction improved significantly. Specific data points are accurately cited, such as the rise in visitors from 74,000 to 92,000 and the shifts in satisfaction percentages (e.g., very satisfied rising from 15% to 35%, and dissatisfied dropping from 40% to 15%). The comparisons are clear and relevant, meeting the requirements of a Band 7 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall progression and logical organization. It is divided into appropriate paragraphs, starting with an introduction, moving to an overview, and then detailing specific figures from the table and charts. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'Overall', 'Looking at the table', 'In addition', and 'On the otherhand'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally a bit mechanical or imprecise, as seen in phrases like 'were of equal chunk in both the cases', which slightly disrupts the natural flow of the writing. Paragraphing is used sufficiently.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'renovated', 'refurbishment', 'redevelopment', and 'dissatisfaction'. However, there are notable word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'voted satisfied and very satisfied' instead of 'reported being satisfied', 'an growth' instead of 'a growth', and 'an increment' instead of 'an increase'. The phrase 'equal chunk' is also informal and awkward. These lexical slips restrict the score to a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. While the student attempts complex structures, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For instance, the subject-verb agreement is flawed in 'The table illustrate', and article errors appear in 'an growth' and 'a increment'. Punctuation is also slightly flawed, such as the missing comma and awkward placement in 'i.e, 40 percent and which had drastically reduced'. Despite these errors, communication is rarely impeded, and the control of grammar aligns with Band 6 descriptors.
