Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table below presents information regarding the number of people visiting Ashdown Museum before and after it was renovated. The charts give insight on the satisfaction rate of the visitors during these same periods.

Overall, the data shows that the number of visitors after the refurbishment of Ashdown Museum grew a lot. Along with this, the satisfaction rate of the people increased as well, diming down the dissatifaction rate that was recorded before.

A year prior to the cleaning and rebuilding of the museum, the number of tourists visiting the museum was 74000. This number increased drastically after the renovation with the total numbers of people being 92000.

Furthermore, the opinions related to museum also changed. Before, the 40 people out of 100 people were dissatisfied from their experience at the museum. On the other hand, the only 30 people were satisfied. But the Ashdown Museum underwent a revamp, the visitors experience was enhanced. Now, 40 out of 100 people were satisfied, while only 15 did not have a good experience. Another important detail to note is that, along with those 40 people, about 35 people responded that they were extremely satisfied with their tour.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by summarizing the main features of both the table and the charts. The overview captures the overall increase in visitor numbers and satisfaction rates, and specific data points are correctly cited, such as the rise from 74,000 to 92,000 visitors. Key survey shifts—such as the drop in dissatisfaction and the rise in very satisfied and satisfied respondents—are reported accurately. However, the student misinterprets the survey data scale slightly by stating "40 people out of 100" instead of percentages, which is a minor error in data interpretation. Despite this, the response provides a clear, well-supported overview that covers all major visual elements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to the table and charts respectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different datasets. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as "Overall," "Furthermore," and "On the other hand." However, some transitional phrases and references feel slightly mechanical or awkward, such as "diming down the dissatifaction rate" and "Before, the 40 people out of 100 people," which disrupts the natural flow of information. Overall progression is clear, but cohesion could be smoother and more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, successfully conveying trends and data comparisons with terms like "refurbishment," "satisfaction rate," and "drastically." However, there are several lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors, such as "diming down" instead of "reducing" or "bringing down," and "dissatifaction." The student also struggles slightly with precise data collocations, interpreting percentage figures as absolute numbers of people ("40 people out of 100"). While a range of topic-specific vocabulary is attempted, these errors prevent the lexical score from reaching higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using clauses effectively in sentences like "A year prior to the cleaning and rebuilding of the museum, the number of tourists visiting the museum was 74000." There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as "the opinions related to museum also changed" (missing article), "the only 30 people were satisfied," and "the visitors experience was enhanced" (missing possessive apostrophe). Punctuation and spacing errors also appear, such as missing spaces after commas. Nonetheless, these errors rarely impede overall communication.
