Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the visitor numbers and the survey results for both periods. The key data points, such as the rise in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000 and the shifts in satisfaction percentages, are correctly identified and compared. However, some ideas are under-developed or expressed rather simplistically, such as the brief and slightly confused phrasing regarding satisfaction categories. Additionally, please note that the response falls slightly short of the required minimum length, containing 149 words instead of the mandated 150 words. To reach a higher level, the writer should provide a more fully extended and polished discussion of the trends without missing the word count threshold.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs detailing the before and after refurbishment periods. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, and referencing is not always clear. For instance, the transition 'However, before refurbishment is detrimental cause dissatisfied individual are 40%' lacks logical clarity and smooth connection to the preceding sentence. Paragraphing is present, but the progression of ideas between sentences within paragraphs could be managed more skilfully to ensure a smoother flow of information.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'refurbished', 'percentage', and 'dissatisfied'. There are, however, noticeable word choice and collocation errors, along with awkward phrasing such as 'very dissatisfied humas', 'satisfied humankind', and 'noresponse'. Spelling errors like 'befor' instead of 'before' and word form errors such as 'have reduce' instead of 'have reduced' also occur. These inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to this level, as more precise and natural control over vocabulary is required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing comparative structures and dependent clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and agreement that affect clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie chart illustrate', 'dissatisfied individual are'), missing articles ('in year befor refurbishment'), and awkward clause structures. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, the presence of frequent grammatical inaccuracies across different sentence structures keeps the performance at this specific level.
