Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting both the visitor numbers from the table and the satisfaction survey results from the charts, satisfying the basic requirements for this level. An overview is attempted, such as noting the highest dissatisfaction before refurbishment, although it is somewhat imprecise. However, some parts of the task are developed more fully than others; for instance, the specific data points are listed mechanically rather than being fully integrated into meaningful comparisons. To move to a higher band, the response should provide a more cohesive and comprehensive overview of the main trends, ensuring that all key comparisons between the two periods are clearly drawn without relying on isolated data points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information into logical paragraphs, beginning with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs for the data. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as "To start with" and "Moving further, after refurbishment." However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in abrupt transitions and fragmented sentences like "after refurbishment. The largest propotion was seen..." To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to improve the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that cohesive devices are integrated smoothly without disrupting the clarity of the comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic information about the museum visitors and survey percentages. The student attempts less common vocabulary such as "propotion," "refurbishment," and "dissatisfied." However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that slightly impede communication, including repeated misspellings like "propotion" and "responce," alongside awkward phrasing such as "how many visitors visit museum." To reach a higher band, the writer must expand the lexical range, eliminate spelling errors, and demonstrate greater precision in word choice and collocations when discussing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, demonstrating basic control over sentence structures. There are several grammar and punctuation errors present, such as sentence fragments (e.g., "after refurbishment."), missing articles (e.g., "visit museum"), and awkward prepositions (e.g., "satisfied during visiting"). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they occur regularly and restrict the text to a foundational level of grammatical control. To improve, the writer needs to increase the variety of error-free complex structures and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, including subject-verb agreement and article usage.
