Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response makes a partial attempt to address the task by mentioning visitor numbers (74,000 and 92,000) and some survey percentages. However, the selection of data is incomplete and lacks a clear, objective overview of the main trends. Furthermore, the writing adopts an overly subjective and conversational tone in places, particularly at the beginning and end, rather than maintaining the formal, analytical approach required for an Academic Task 1. Key features, such as the overall shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction, are obscured by awkward phrasing and limited development. To reach a higher level, the response should systematically report all key data points from both the table and charts, highlight overarching trends clearly, and avoid personal commentary or moral conclusions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay lacks clear overall progression and logical paragraphing, as it is presented as a single, dense block of text. The flow of ideas is frequently disrupted by repetitive transitions and unclear referencing. For instance, phrases like 'after seeing those dissatisfication' and 'new survey again had been done' create a mechanical and disjointed sequence rather than a smooth narrative of the data. Pronoun referencing is also imprecise, making it difficult to follow which data points are being compared. To improve, the text needs to be divided into logical paragraphs—such as an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs for visitor numbers and survey results—while utilizing a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to link ideas naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, which restricts the quality of the response. The writer relies heavily on basic terms and phrases such as 'good percentage', 'good amount', and 'work hard'. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'dissatisfication' (spelling), 'paids off' (word form/collocation), and 'harwork one day will pays you off', which introduce an informal, proverb-like tone unsuited to an academic report. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical range to include precise statistical and descriptive vocabulary, such as 'proportion', 'significantly', 'considerable increase', and 'ratification', while ensuring correct word formation and spelling throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of repetitive simple and compound structures alongside frequent complex sentence attempts that contain structural errors. There are numerous issues with verb forms, tenses, and agreement, such as 'the survey was been done', 'how much is it worth', and 'the percentage of very satisfied were 35'. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences lacking appropriate boundary markers. These frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and impede clear communication. To improve, the writer needs to practice forming accurate complex sentences with correct subject-verb agreement, reliable past and present tense control, and better punctuation control.
