Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features from both the table and the charts. An overview is successfully attempted, noting the general increase in visitor numbers and the shift towards higher satisfaction ratings after the refurbishment. However, some parts are more fully developed than others, and certain data points are imprecise or partially misreported. For instance, the text claims that 15% were very dissatisfied after the refurbishment, whereas the chart shows that figure was actually 5% for very dissatisfied and 15% for dissatisfied. The ideas are relevant, but the lack of complete accuracy in reading the survey data prevents the response from achieving a higher rating.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement, with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing separately on visitor numbers and satisfaction surveys. However, cohesion is at times faulty and mechanical. The opening features an awkward sentence fragment starting with a stray punctuation mark and 'While, the pie chart illustrate...', which disrupts the flow. Furthermore, referencing and logical transitions between sentences are occasionally clunky, such as the abrupt shift in the paragraph discussing satisfaction levels before and after the refurbishment. Paragraphing is present, but the organizational progression lacks smoothness.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic comparisons and changes such as 'increased considerably', 'proportion', and 'remained unchanged'. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, but this often leads to inaccuracies in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'refurbished' used as a noun ('after the refurbished'), 'raised on 92,000' instead of 'rose to', and 'immense crowed' instead of 'crowd' or 'group'. While these errors do not seriously impede overall communication, they demonstrate limitations in lexical control that restrict the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting comparative structures and subordinate clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, and articles. Examples include tense and form confusion ('it's refurbished', 'after the refurbished'), preposition errors ('raised on 92,000', 'reviews of satisfied'), and pluralization issues ('very dissatisfaction visitors reviews'). Punctuation errors also occur, such as unnecessary commas splitting clauses incorrectly. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, placing the grammatical control securely within this band.
