Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the table and the charts. The writer successfully highlights the total visitor numbers, such as 74,000 before refurbishment and 92,000 after, and notes key shifts in visitor satisfaction, including the rise in those who were very satisfied from 15% to 35%. However, some ideas are under-developed or expressed unclearly, such as the confusing phrasing regarding visitor trends and the incomplete comparison regarding dissatisfied visitors dropping to 15%. While the core data is present, the reporting lacks the precision and fully extended comparisons required to move into higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a coherent overall arrangement with an introduction, body details, and a concluding sentence, meaning the response is organised into logical blocks. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic transitions like 'Before the year of refurbish', 'In contrast', and 'looking at the both pie charts', which results in a repetitive and somewhat choppy flow. Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, and the lack of smooth linking devices hinders the overall progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully covering terms related to visitor numbers and survey satisfaction levels such as 'museum', 'refurbished', 'visitors', 'satisfied', and 'dissatisfied'. The writer attempts less common vocabulary like 'enhancement', but this is accompanied by noticeable word-form and word-choice errors, such as using 'renewal' instead of 'refurbishment', 'durations' instead of 'periods', and awkward phrasing like 'after refurbish of Museum visitor slightly increased'. These lexical inaccuracies do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the response from achieving a higher rating.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting comparative structures and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in sentence construction, verb forms, and articles. Examples include missing verbs or incorrect verb forms such as 'after refurbishment an upward trend, while before refurbishment is downward trend', missing prepositions ('the numbers of tourist'), and awkward relative phrasing like 'only 5 % visitor that have no response'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, and although these errors rarely impede overall communication, they persist throughout the text.
