Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response only partially addresses the task requirements. First, the length requirement is not met, as the student has written only 90 words compared to the minimum of 150 words. Second, the visual data is significantly misinterpreted or misdescribed; the student refers to the charts as 'two different piecharts' when they are actually bar charts showing survey results, and completely omits the main table detailing the visitor numbers (74,000 and 92,000). While a couple of survey data points are mentioned, such as the 15 percent to 35 percent rise in very satisfied visitors, the response lacks a proper overview and fails to report the main features accurately or comprehensively. To reach a higher band, the writer must ensure the minimum word count is fulfilled, correctly identify the chart types, include data from the table, and present a complete summary of all key trends.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation attempted, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. The response starts with an introductory sentence and uses some cohesive markers such as 'First and formost' and 'Secondly', but these devices are mechanically applied and fail to guide the reader smoothly through a well-structured argument. Furthermore, the paragraphs are improperly managed or lumped together, and referencing is weak due to the abrupt ending mid-sentence ('ratio of dissatisfied people increased fastly'). To improve coherence and cohesion, the student needs to structure the response into logical paragraphs—separating the overview, the table data, and the survey results—and use cohesive devices more naturally to connect ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited, though minimally adequate for conveying basic points. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'refurbishment' and 'percentage', but encounters noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form (e.g., 'piecharts', 'refubishment', 'formost', 'beetween', 'fastly'). These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty or distraction for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the student should expand their vocabulary range, use precise terminology related to data description (such as 'proportion' or 'percentage'), and check their spelling and word forms carefully to ensure accurate communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentence structures that frequently contain errors. There are notable issues with articles, prepositions, and basic sentence construction, such as missing articles ('the category of satisfied visitors'), incorrect prepositions ('in the rate of satisfaction beetween'), and incomplete sentences ending abruptly. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve in this area, the student should practice writing complete, grammatically sound sentences, focus on correct article usage, and ensure verbs and prepositions are used accurately within standard grammatical patterns.
